In a recent interview, Democratic Congressman John Lewis likened President Trump to segregationist George Wallace saying the president “knows very, very little about the history of the civil rights movement.”
Responding on Fox News, Martin Luther King Jr’.s niece, Alveda King, called the claim false and declared Trump a civil rights leader when it comes to the rights of the unborn:
“The president is leading the charge for civil rights today for the little unborn persons in the world who have a right to live. I’m director of civil rights for the unborn and I say that everybody’s civil rights count, from the womb to the tomb. The young, old, sick, elderly, babies, woman and everything.
The president is certainly fighting for civil rights.”
King went on to say that Trump is “surrounding himself with knowledgeable people” on civil rights, citing her visit with him to the African American museum and the appointment of Dr. Ben Carson as HUD Secretary.
King ended her comments by saying she had great respect for Congressman Lewis but that she is tired of the “race card” being played in America.
