Maxine Waters Calls Harvard Law Professor Dershowitz ‘Racist.’ When He Strikes Back? Yeah, It’s Over

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) has made headlines for months over her virtually non-stop trashing of President Donald Trump and continual calls for his impeachment.

Now she’s branching out.

On Friday, Waters labeled famed Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz — a lifelong Democrat — “racist” over comments he made during a radio interview after news broke that special counsel Robert Mueller has impaneled a second grand jury in the investigation into possible collusion between Trump officials and Russia.

Dershowitz told WABC Radio the second jury will sit in Washington, D.C., while the first is in Alexandria, Virginia. He said Mueller has “stacked the deck” against Trump:

“It gives the prosecutor a tremendous tactical advantage… the case now can be brought not in Northern Virginia, which is a swing area, sometimes Democrat, sometimes Republican… but the District of Columbia, which is always solidly Democratic and has an ethnic and racial composition that might be very unfavorable to the Trump Administration.”

That was all Waters needed to hear. During a Friday appearance on MSNBC, she dropped the race card on Dershowitz:

“What he said, ‘You know all of those black people are there, and they don’t like Trump. So he’s not going to get a fair trial, so they should take it out of that jurisdiction, it shouldn’t be there, to begin with.’

I don’t like that, and I’m surprised that Alan Dershowitz is talking like that. And we will not stand for it. We will push back against it. Because that is absolutely racist.”

Dershowitz fired back on Sunday, telling “Fox & Friends” that Waters doesn’t know what she’s talking about:

“Well, she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. First of all, I wasn’t talking about the grand jury. I was talking about the petty jury.

Grand jury doesn’t matter. A grand jury will indict a ham sandwich if the prosecutor wants them to — so it doesn’t matter where the grand jury is.”

Dershowitz said the location of a trial, in the event a grand jury issues an indictment, is what really matters:

“Maxine Waters should know better and does know better. She knows that every experienced lawyer — white, black, Asian, Latino — knows that when you’re selecting a jury, factors like ethnicity, race, and political affiliation matter.”

Dershowitz blew off Waters’s “racist” blast:

“If I had said that race didn’t matter, she would have called me a racist. She throws around the term so loosely and so inappropriately, and it weakens her credibility.”

“Being black doesn’t give you a license to call people racist any more than being Jewish gives you a license to call people anti-Semitic,” Dershowitz said.

Apparently, Maxine Waters disagrees.
