Video: Hurricane Irma Literally Emptied the Ocean on Island in the Bahamas

Hurricane Irma wreaked absolute havoc in the Caribbean this week.

Barbuda took a massive hit, losing 95 percent of its buildings and vehicles, according to ABC News. The devastation in St. Martin prompted French President Emmanuel Macron to call for immediate emergency aid to the popular getaway island, per the Los Angeles Times.

Irma has yet to make landfall in Florida. But what it did in the Bahamas, which is a little over 300 miles from the state, is quite the eye-opener. The winds from the storm reportedly emptied the ocean water on Long Island, one of its islands:


As of right now, Irma is starting to turn toward the Florida Keys. We can only hope it’s not as bad as it’s being forecast.
