Vice President Mike Pence made a bold move in response to NFL players kneeling for the flag. Mike Pence was at a Colt’s game. He tweeted about the experience. “Looking forward to cheering for our @Colts & honoring the great career of #18 Peyton Manning at @LucasOilStadium today. Go Colts!” tweeted Pence before the game.
But then he did this… “I left today’s Colts game because @POTUS and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem,” tweeted Pence.
“At a time when so many Americans are inspiring our nation with their courage, resolve, and resilience now, more than ever, we should rally around our Flag and everything that unites us. While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I don’t think it’s too much to ask NFL players to respect the Flag and our National Anthem. I stand with @POTUS Trump, I stand with our soldiers, and I will always stand for our Flag and our National Anthem,” tweeted Pence.
CNN’s Brian Stelter was furious over Pence’s form of protest against NFL kneelers. He attacked Pence and said it was ‘staged’.
“It makes you wonder if he purposely wanted to go to the Colts game today in Indiana in order to make this statement, knowing that 49ers players were almost guaranteed to kneel. There have been players on the San Francisco team kneeling every single game. Pence and his team head into the game today, they had to have known there was going to be kneeling. His statement almost seems written ahead of time, and it seems like it was a staged moment for Pence to walk out and make a statement about this,” said Stelter.
